BUGS Harvest Dinner
It's a late summer afternoon and BUGS is buzzing with our resident bees, your fellow environmentalists, locavores, and education activists. The garden is bursting with tomatoes, cucumbers, sunflowers and the entire bounty of the year.
Music greets you as your tour the facilities with the guidance of our students, sip on our signature white wine “cocktail” and peruse the silent auction items.
Dinner is served under the tent and catered by April Hale of Open Table based around produce from the BUGS garden. Dessert is our “famous” carrot cake.
The evening is emceed by a local personality with a paddle raise and live auction.

Rocking Summer Teen Takeover Open House Event
Join BUGS and City of Boise partners for a free event at Comba Park! Enjoy any or all of the following:
Decorating clay pots/making seed balls
STEM activity – making ice cream (and there will be plenty to eat)
Popcorn bar with mix and match BUGS seasonings
A reuse/reduce/recycle crafting station
DIY culinary station: Injera flatbread with mix and match fillings
Nail art station
Spoon carving
Print making with Open Letter Collective
Plus music and games like cornhole, yard checkers, and big Jenga
Free including free bussing for teens from VRT. Open to teens 12-18.

Dinner Party Hosting 101
Are you wanting to host a gathering or have your friends over for a bite, but not sure where to start?
In this class you will learn pro tips for planning a dinner party for a small or medium sized group.
From shopping lists and chronological prep lists for what to prep and make ahead, to day-of timeline, recipes, and etiquette tips, we have you covered!
Plus, hands-on practicing cooking of the recipes from the class. You will walk away fully prepared to welcome your friends, feeling confident and prepared.
Culinary Pop-up: Sriracha and Candied Jalapenos
We invite our community to this open-house style event!
Pop in to the BUGS barn anytime between 5:30-6:30pm to see a sriracha making demonstration. Bring a re-usable bag to take home a few hot peppers to try at home (while our supply lasts)!
Plus, recipes and a tasting of candied jalapenos! $5 suggested donation.
Kimchi Culinary Pop-up
Explore, taste, and discover the myriad of Kimchi-able veggies we grow at BUGS including garden-greens, carrots and radishes.
We will guide you through Kimchi making including how-to, steps involved in fermenting, recipes and tips plus a Kim Chi tasting.
Bring a pint jar with a lid to this open-house style culinary pop-up and mix and match our produce to take home your custom Kim Chi batch ready to ferment! $5 donation.
BUGS Fall Festival

The Harvest Dinner and Auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year! Enjoy a garden-to-table meal catered by Lea Rainey of Roots Zero Waste Market and based around produce from our garden, this is a local culinary experience not to miss.
