The BUGS summer program comes to a close this week, August 7th. We have had seven full weeks of planting, weeding, harvesting, preparing, cooking and selling our produce. Our students have looked a bit more closely at where their food comes from and awareness has definitely grown! In the kitchen, students prepared fantastic recipes utilizing everything fresh from the garden. Their taste buds have expanded and most days, all clamor for seconds! The farm stand has been a great success- students harvest, clean, bundle and price the produce before greeting customers with a smile. Customer service skills enhanced, they educate others on the value of pure humus, recipes of the week for the featured vegetables, and why we farm organic. We celebrate our last day with a potluck lunch- student generated- and keep the farm stand running through September.
