Lisa Duplessie, Boise Urban Garden School Executive Director/Education Program Manager 

Lisa joined BUGS with a background in Elementary Education, urban agriculture and a love for public/private partnerships.  She enjoys the outdoors, camping, and experiencing local food.  When Lisa is not at BUGS,  she loves bike riding with her husband and 2 wonderful daughters.

Dirk Anderson – BUGS Education Program Coordinator

Dirk came to BUGS through the AmeriCorps program and has now become our program coordinator. He is a graduate of the McCall Outdoor Science School with a Masters in Science in Natural Resources with Honors and a Bachelor’s degree from Montana Tech of the University of Montana in Biological Sciences. Dirk is a native Idahoan with a passion for the outdoors.

David Thompson- BUGS Urban Agriculture Specialist 

David is a Garden City raised urban farmer starting his first season with BUGS. Prior to BUGS, David worked for Zenger Farm (Portland, OR) growing USDA Organic certified vegetables and fruit for a 180 share CSA. To David, growing food organically is the tastiest way to improve one’s health, improve the strength of the community and sustain the earth for future generations.  David looks forward to the 2018 growing season and hopes you will share your favorite “weirdo” veggie variety with him.

Alex Rheault – BUGS 2017-18 AmeriCorps Member

Alex Rheault is the 2017-2018 BUGS PCEI Americorps Member. She is originally from Fargo, North Dakota and moved to the west to attend the University of Idaho. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science from UI, Alex joined the Peace Corps and served as an Environmental Education Volunteer in Nicaragua for two years. Once she returned, Alex became a Master’s of Education student at the McCall Outdoor Science School. When Alex is not in the classroom or the garden, she enjoys hiking and exploring Idaho.

Allissa Edwards – BUGS Environmental Education Instructor

Allissa has a background teaching environmental education with the parks department in Seattle, WA .  Her degree in early childhood development guided her into teaching and educational programming with school districts, the YMCA and BSU Children’s Center.  Her love of gardening, teaching and outdoor exploration brought her to BUGS!

Mackenzie Platt- BUGS 2018 AmeriCorps Member

Mackenzie is a born and raised Idahoan and currently a 2018 PCEI AmeriCorps member. Her background is in zoology and conservation education and she has a passion for anything furry, fuzzy, leafy, or scaly. When not at BUGS she is probably out hiking somewhere or petting a dog.
