Summer Camps 2017

 

Sprouts – Ages 5 to 8

The BUGS education garden and its resident plants and animals will provide a rich learning experience for younger participants ages 5-8 in this new summer camp. Each day will include time to explore in the garden, harvesting and tasting, story time, garden arts, crafts and games and a fresh garden lunch.

Seed to Harvest - Ages 9 to 12

When campers join us in the BUGS education garden they will connect with nature, discover the source of their food, and learn the science behind sprouting seeds. Students will participate in a variety of garden activities that may including planting, composting (backyard & worm) and garden arts and they will also learn about soils, garden critters (insects) and how they help us, plant parts and growth and more! A fresh garden lunch is provided each day of the camp.  

What’s Cookin’ University – Ages 10 to 14

Spend a week or two in the BUGS kitchen learning how to create meals that include fresh garden produce that you’ll harvest from our education garden. Each day students will prepare and enjoy healthy lunches while learning the basics of cooking including: knife skills, sautéing, baking, and much more.

Teens in the Garden (TIG) Summer Volunteer Service - Incoming 9th to 12 graders – NEW!

The Boise Urban Garden School will be cultivating our first crop of summer service teens and we’d like to invite you to apply! The BUGS Teens in the Garden (TIG) eight week summer service program will help support our partnership with three school based community center gardens at Grace Jordan, Morley Nelson and Whitney elementary schools and in the BUGS education garden. This is an application based program with a submission deadline of March 31, 2017.  Click here for more information and to sign up!

Writing in the Rows – Join The Cabin at BUGS – August 14th – 18th – NEW!

Plant the seeds of great poems, stories and more as you dig in and explore the grounds of Boise Urban Garden School with a Cabin teaching-writer. Campers also receive education sessions by BUGS staff.
