2014 Update

At BUGS we believe that every family in our community should have access to fresh, healthy foods and that boys and girls benefit from early exposure to science, health, and environmental education. Over the past eleven years we have provided these important services in our community, and individuals and organizations alike have recognized the value in what we do.

We are excited to announce that BUGS has combined forces with the City of Boise Parks and Recreation Department in a partnership that will further expand our services in the community. Both BUGS and the City of Boise Parks and Recreation Department are devoted to increasing community gardening and garden-based education for youth in our community.

This partnership allows BUGS to focus on supporting schools, youth and community gardens, classes, camps, and workshops throughout Boise. BUGS is responsible for raising the funds for these new gardens and programs, while Boise Parks and Recreation supports the daily functions and operations of our organization.

BUGS employees are now considered employees of the City of Boise, and the Executive Director position is shared between both organizations. Under this partnership, BUGS has maintained our independent 501(c)3 status. You can expect BUGS to have the same focus and provide the same high-quality programming, with the same staff and board that you have come to know.

You will be happy to know that all of your donations and other forms of support for BUGS continue to be dedicated to garden-based health, science and environmental education, and are now able to stretch even further.

Thank you for your support in helping to ensure that we will continue to fulfill our mission to grow healthy communities and inquiring minds!
